Candle Safety

Because the majority of our items are made to order, candles are best left for a week or two (depending on size ) after receipt before lighting, to allow them time to cure properly to ensure optimum scent throw

Remove all packaging, ribbons etc before lighting your candle

Place on a heat-resistant surface prior to lighting.  Votives MUST be placed in a suitable close-fitting container and floating candles should be placed in a bowl of water before lighting

Choose a candle suitable for the space you wish to fragrance.  A small candle may not provide a large enough melt pool to fragrance a large room.

Burn container candles for at least 1 hour for each inch (2.5cm) diameter

Do not burn for longer than 4 or 5 hours at any one time

Never burn a container candle right to the bottom – always leave at least 1cm of wax at the base (you can scoop this out when cool and use in your oil burner so as not to waste it)

Keep all burning candles away from curtains, nets and other flammable materials

Keep out of the reach of pets and small children

Never burn a candle in a draught

Do not move a burning candle; allow to cool and set before moving

Keep the wick trimmed to 0.5cm to prolong candle life and also to help avoid smoking

If a candle smokes, flickers repeatedly, or if the flame becomes too high, extinguish it immediately.  Once it's cooled, trim the wick and re-light the candle

Never leave a burning candle unattended; always extinguish before leaving the room

Wax Melts

These are to be used in the bowl of your oil burner.  Do NOT add water.  Light an unscented tea light underneath

When the scent has gone, allow the wax to cool until solid.  If it does not pop out of the burner bowl easily, light an unscented tea light underneath for a few seconds only to loosen the wax.  Alternatively, depending on the fragility of your burner, place the burner in the freezer for 5 minutes.  The cold wax should then pop out easily.

If you wish to change fragrances before the all the scent has gone from your wax melt, follow either of the same steps as above but keep the cold wax disc wrapped in clingfilm and use again later.  It's too good to waste.  :-)

NEVER pour molten wax down the sink

Simmering Granules

These are to be used in the bowl of your oil burner.  Do NOT add water.  Light an unscented tea light underneath

When the scent has gone, simply allow the granules to cool then dispose of in the bin
